 | Cole Aldrich #45 College: Kansas Class: Junior NBA Position: Center Height: 6'11" Weight: 250 lbs Birthday: 10/31/1988 |
Player Biography: A Minnesota native, Aldrich was a four-star recruit (#30 Rivals; #38 Scout) and a McDonald's All-American, averageing 22.9 points and 17.6 rebounds per game as a senior before committing to Kansas. Aldrich played sparingly as a freshman for the Jayhawks, but stepped up as a sophomore, averaging 14.9 points, 11.1 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. Due his strong play last season (including a triple-double in the NCAA Tournament with 13 points, 20 rebounds, 10 blocks), many assumed that Aldrich would go early in the first round last year, but he decided to return to Kansas for his junior season. While he is still considered a top-ten pick, it remains to be seen if that was a wise decision, as his production was decreased across the board.
Strengths: • Ideal size and length • Excellent rebounder • Good shot-blocking skills • Improved post game • Decent jumpshot • Hard worker
| Weaknesses: • Average athleticism • Unorthodox shooting mechanics • Likely a role player in the NBA |
