Brackins Scores 42 in Loss
Excerpt from the Des Moines Register:
Iowa State power forward Craig Brackins was singularly spectacular today with 42 points and 14 rebounds, but his teammates couldn’t carry Superman’s cape in an 82-67 loss to Kansas before an announced crowd of 13,170 at Hilton Coliseum.
Brackins’ big game, two points shy of the Big 12 Conference record set by Kansas State’s Michael Beasley at Baylor last season and the fourth-highest in Iowa State history, left a hollow feeling afterward.
“He was as good as any player in the nation (Saturday),” Kansas coach Bill Self said. Brackins’ teammates were 8-of-36 and attempted just six free throws. Brackins made 3-of-5 3-pointers. His teammates were 3-of-21.
