2009 NBA Draft Grades: Atlantic Division

With the 2009 NBA Draft complete, we have finished grading each team on their picks. Though it takes time to see how a class will actually pan out, the grades should give an indication of the value and fit of each play for each team.

Boston Celtics
Picks: None.
Grade: N/A.
Analysis: The Celtics traded their first round pick in the Kevin Garnett deal. It's hard to argue with that decision.
New Jersey Nets
Picks:Terrence Williams (#11).
Grade: B.
Analysis: Even before the Vince Carter trade, it was clear that the Nets wanted to add a wing to the mix; the trade just made it that much more evident. Williams, most likely a role player in the NBA, should help by bringing his defensive and playmaking skills to New Jersey.
New York Knicks
Picks:Jordan Hill (#8), Toney Douglas (#29).
Grade: A-.
Analysis: With the eighth pick, the Knicks landed a good value in Jordan Hill, the best big in this draft behind Blake Griffin. His athleticism should fit well with D'Antoni's offense. They then acquired Toney Douglas from the Lakers for a 2011 second rounder. If nothing else, Douglas will have a role in th league as a defensive specialist. Two nice picks by New York and Donnie Walsh.
Philadelphia 76ers
Picks:Jrue Holiday (#17).
Grade: B+.
Analysis: Entering the draft, it was clear that the Sixers were eying a young point guard to develop behind Andre Miller. The fact that Jrue Holiday fell to Philadelphia makes for an ideal fit, since Holiday will need time to become a real contributor on the NBA level.
Toronto Raptors
Picks:DeMar DeRozan (#9).
Grade: B.
Analysis: It was pretty clear throughout the process that Toronto was eying DeRozan. Though he is still raw and developing, he adds athleticism on the perimeter.
