Mills Leaves St. Mary's for NBA

Excerpt from the San Jose Mercury News:

Patty Mills' time in a Saint Mary's College basketball uniform ended Monday afternoon, as he announced his intentions to remain in the NBA draft and forgo his remaining two years of eligibility.

Mills waited until the final minutes before Monday's 2 p.m. deadline before making the decision. He then phoned coach Randy Bennett, thanked him for his help and support over the past two seasons, calling Saint Mary's "his second home."

"It was a tough decision for Pat," Bennett said. "He's thought about it. It's not easy. He's right on the cusp, so that makes it even trickier. But I'm excited for him. If someone in life is trying to chase a dream, it's hard to do anything but support him. That's where I am."
