Player Biography: A native of Argentina, Juan Fernandez made a somewhat unusual choice by electing to play collegiate basketball instead of playing professionally in Europe, where he had offers from Spanish teams. Fernandez appeared to be an intriguing prospect as a sophomore, helping to lead Temple (along with Lavoy Allen) into the top 25. However, I think he has taken a step back as a junior. Fernandez has seen his scoring decline (from 12.6PPG to 10.1), mainly due to his struggles as a shooter. His shooting percentage from the field has dropped 7% to 35.8%, with his three-point percentage falling off even more (from 45.3% to 28.3%). Juan Fernandez will really need to bounce back as a senior to have a chance at the NBA.
