McCamey and Davis Returning to Illinois
Excerpt from Chicago Breaking Sports:
Illinois fans and coach Bruce Weber can breathe a sigh of relief: Mike Davis and Demetri McCamey are staying at Illinois.
The juniors decided to withdraw their names from the NBA draft Saturday and could help the Illini contend for a championship in a crowded Big Ten next season.
The move wasn't exactly a surprise. Both McCamey and Davis said they would need first-round guarantees to remain in the draft, and neither were listed very highly in reputable mock drafts.
"I think our team can do big things next year so I'm coming back to help us compete for championships and at the same time keep getting better so I can challenge for a first-round spot in next year's draft," McCamey said in a news release.
"Deep down I knew another year of school was best for me, but having the chance to workout and get that feedback were helpful so I'm thankful for that opportunity," Davis said.
