Georgia's Thompkins to Hire Agent; Leslie to Test Waters

Excerpt from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Trey Thompkins has played his final basketball game for Georgia, and Travis Leslie might have done so, too.

Thompkins will forgo his senior season to enter the NBA draft, and he plans to make the decision irreversible by hiring an agent.

Leslie also will apply for the draft but will not yet hire an agent, thus preserving the option of withdrawing from the draft by the NCAA’s May 8 deadline to return for his senior season at UGA.

“I have spoken with my family and coaches about my situation,” Thompkins said, “and I feel that it’s best for me to forgo my senior season and enter the NBA draft. I would just like to thank everyone who has supported me in this decision.”

Said Georgia coach Mark Fox: “We certainly appreciate Trey’s contributions to the program, and we wish him well in the pursuit of his dreams.”

“Travis has exercised his right to ‘test the waters’ as a junior,” Fox said. “We will help him manage that process in a timely manner.”
