Player Biography: Vasquez attended Montrose Christian in Rockville, Maryland, where he averaged 12.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 5.9 apg, and 2.5 spg as a senior. Vasquez was mid-level recruit (#46 Overall, Rivals; #25 SG, Scout) coming out of high school and chose Maryland from schools like Gonzaga, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina State. In his freshman season at Maryland, Greivis started 21 out of the 34 games in the season, averaged 9.8 ppg, 4.8 apg, and 3.3 rpg, and was selected as an honorable mention All-ACC Freshman. Vasquez greatly improved his statistics and his role on the team in his sophomore year at Maryland, starting all 34 games and averaging 17.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 6.8 apg. His performance earned him All-ACC Second Team honors. This season, Vasquez played a huge part in defeating the then #3 ranked North Carolina Tarheels, with 35 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists on February 22, 2009. Greivis recieved 2009 Second Team All-ACC honors.
