Player Biography: A lower rated recruit (#54 Scout,#99  Rivals), McNeal played high school basketball for Hillcrest High School in Country Club Hills, Ill.  Jerel started every game as a freshman at Marquette and was named to the Big East All-Rookie Team, with averages of 11.1 ppg and 4.5 rpg. McNeal saw his scoring improve over his sophomore season, averaging 14.7 ppg. He was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year, averaging 2.6 spg, and was also selected to the Big East All-Conference Second Team. McNeal did not grow much statistically over his junior year, averaging 14.9 ppg and 2.2 spg. He was selected again to the Big East All-Conference Second Team.
