Draft Profile: BYU PG Jimmer Fredette

Jimmer Fredette #32
College: Brigham Young
Class: Senior
NBA Position: Point Guard
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 195 lbs
Birthday: 2/25/1989

Player Biography: A native of Glens Falls, New York, Jimmer Fredette was lightly recruited out of high school. Over the last four years, however, Fredette has developed in one of the nation's best players, earning first-team All-American honors while leading BYU to 32-5 record.

Strengths

Clearly, Fredette can score. He has good ball-handling skills, which help him excel in isolation at the collegiate level. He can also make shots off of the dribble. Despite taking a high volume of shots, Fredette hits at a high percentage, including nearly 40% from three. He clearly has NBA range on his jumper. Projecting his game to the next level, he will be able to help on the offensive side of the ball as a shooter

Weaknesses

Fredette's lack of size and athleticism really limits his NBA potential. His offensive skill set is best suited for the 2, but will Fredette be able to guard his position? I don't think so. Fredette's lack of size and quickness presents major problems for him in matching up with shooting guards. As a point guard, he lacks the traditional skills as a creator, and quickness will still be a problem defensively. The big question, then, is this: will the strength of Fredette's offensive game translate well enough to make up for his defensive liabilities?
