Ohio guard Armon Bassett will remain in the NBA Draft, university officials announced Wednesday.
Bassett, a junior from Terre Haute, Ind., was named the Mid-American Conference Tournament’s most valuable player, and his 32-point performance helped the Bobcats knock off No. 3 Georgetown in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. He announced he would enter the draft in April.
“I feel like after the run we had and the exposure we received, I’m ready to take this next step in my professional career,” Bassett said in a statement released by the university. “After speaking with Coach (John) Groce and my family, this is the best thing for me. I’ve enjoyed representing Ohio and I will always have great memories of what we were able to accomplish.”
Bassett was suspended indefinitely Monday by the university after he was accused of assaulting a door man at an off-campus bar on Saturday, according to The Post, the school’s student newspaper.
